    SCAM Web Hosting Invoice – Nash Digital Ltd – Easy Digital Solutions

    A client of mine reached out as he received a Web Hosting invoice, and wasnt sure what it related to. We have hosted his websites for about 15 years, and he doesn’t have any other websites – so he was quite puzzled to receive what looked like a legitimate invoice

    The Fake Nash Digital Invoice

    Nash Digital

    Nash Digital or Easy Digital Solutions?

    I reached out to them on his behalf, and didnt get a response. So I looked into the company in the header (Easy Digital Solutions / easydigitalsolutions.co.uk) and also the company listed against the payment info (Nash Digital Ltd) and neither of them appear to be legitimate businesses.

    Nash Digital Ltd

    Company Status: Seems to be an active limited company behind this name, Ben Nash and Jack Ernest Nash are directors (Jack seems to have left the company recently)

    Website: .CO.UK domain goes to a generic landing page, so, no active website.

    Verdict: Scam

    Easy Digital Solutions

    Company Status: No ltd company linked to that name.

    Website: Website URL resolves 403 error page.

    Verdict: Scam

    Conclusion

    So if you receive an invoice from one of these companies DO NOT PAY IT unless you are 100% confident that these people have provided you with hosting or other web services.

    And if you are unsure, comment below and ill make contact with you and help you check your website and ensure you are OK to ignore the invoice.

    Stay scam wise, peeps!

  • NETFLIX “Update your payment details” SCAM

    I received this email today, it actually looks pretty poor but would definitely fool some people;

    Its pretty obvious that this isn’t a legitimate web address, Netflix wouldn’t use such an obscure URL – and it would contain “netflix.com” if it was legitimate.

    Fortunately, browsers are picking this up as a scam;

    But just in case yours doesn’t, be warned! Do NOT enter your payment info into the website behind this warning. You will lose money, and you will not be able to get it back.

    I am seeing more and more scams like this, copying common services that we all use – and tricking people into giving the scammers card details, of which they would rinse and then move the funds instantly so you cannot retrieve them.

  • Immediate Attention Required: Your Payment is Now Late – FAKE INVOICE SCAM!

    I know of businesses that have been tricked by these type of scams, some of them have lost £1000’s. I got something like this before but they’d gone to EXTREME lengths to try and make it look as convincing as possible. This attempt could have fooled some people but seemed to have got itself a bit mixed up. Let me explain.

    'Lucy Green MAAT' via Accounts 23 May 2023, 00:40 (3 days ago) to accounts Dear Customer This is a friendly reminder that we haven’t received payment for invoice 875. ISO 9001 — Quality Management ISO 14001 — Environmental Management Members of ADS Please beware of fraudulent emails, particularly regarding changes of bank account details. Changes to accounts should always be verified by telephone with your Wilkie representative. Emails can appear genuine on first sight but hovering your mouse over an address will show the true origin. If there are any doubts over the validity of an email, then please call us directly.

    The sender was: Lucy Green <lucy@contourdigiital.com> and Contour Digital is a legitimate business, but then the business mentioned in the body of the email is Wilkie which is also a legitimate business – the two are not linked.

    NB: I have contacted both parties to inform them of the scam.

    The phone number in the email is not the official email for either of the businesses, I suspect if I call it I will be connected to an overseas call center who will try and blag me into paying a fake invoice.

    If you get an email claiming you owe someone money, if it doesn’t ring a bell, or if the contact info is different, OR if the bank details are different to the details you have used before;

    • PAUSE
    • CALL THE PHONE NUMBER YOU NORMALLY USE
    • AND CONFIRM.
