  • Dont believe the hype

It only seems like a week ago (oh wait, it was) when everyone was darting about sorting things out in time for christmas – and now it is all over. I did have a brill christmas day, from start to finish – but i still think the whle occasion is way over hyped.

This year has been a bit of a strange one due to the liquidity crisis. Everyone was selling things cheap, sale signs in every single shop window. It meant people who ended up buying last minute got all the bargains, and everyone who bought early ended up paying through the odds.

I dont buy things for friends, and i only buy things for my close family – and only items that they ask for. I dont see the point in exchanging cheap tat between friends – meeting up for a drink or something is much more of a gift than something picked up on impulse when in tesco.

Its not that i dont appreciate gifts, i do, but i appreciate spending time with loved ones a whole lot more.

Anyway, christmas done – birthday next! Then new year!

    Happy Holidays people!

  • Nearly had to buy new alloy wheels!

As anyone who knows us will be aware of, gemma little polo has been an absolute pain in the bum! It does seem to of been one problem after the other with the pesky blue vw, but when its clean and running well we love it – so we keep fixing it!

The other day i started taking the alloy wheels off the front of it, so that i could change the disks and pads and one of the driveshafts (got a bargain driveshaft from some car breakers in chesterfield, er the viaduct?) What i found underneath made me feel sick.

The hub nut on the side that i was changing the driveshaft on was hand tight, and about fell off after a slight turn. EVERY SINGLE driveshaft bolt was finger tight, and some were completely loose!

I recon if gem had used her car only a few more times, the bolts would of totally come out and she would of been skidding down the road with no alloy wheels on the front!

A scary thought, but it was close to reality! I feel a lot better now i know they are tight, but im gonna get 12 new ones as the bolts have been nearly rounded off by someone.

Be careful who you let work on your car!

  • A society that favours the slackers

I have had a recent spurt of comments on a post i did about the wheelbase motor project in Nottingham. The comments are from “clients” and employees of the project, and they all seem to completely miss my point of view on the whole subject.

I do understand why these projects exist, and why they work. And i totally agree that school isn’t for for everyone – but you know what? It probably wasn’t right for me either. But i did not smash stuff up or resort to pyromaniacism (is that a word?) i simply got on with it and did what i had to do.

I don’t for 1 minute think projects like this shouldn’t exist – but i feel they should be opened up to all kids at a certain age. When you do your “Options” maybe one of them should be to join a manual labor style placement instead of sitting in a classroom.

I spoke to a friend about the matter, and they told me of a relative of theirs who was a degenerate type, messed about in school and generally caused a nuisance. He was rewarded with day trips, and a trade placement when he was 14. He now earns more then my friend, who is 3 years his senior.

I guess its just another example of how this country favours the doleys and drop outs over the hard workers.

Roll on a fair britain, eh!

  • Prison Break Season 4 Episodes 1 & 2 S04E02 & S04E01

Well – that long awaited moment has arrived! Prison break has been thrust back onto our screens for the 4th consecutive season. The last season was cut short due to writers strikes, and unfortunately the lost time that they have made up with this double whammy airing of the new season has left me with a slight sourness in my mouth – wait that’s just my drink!
