  • Making money from the internet

There must be nothing better than waking up in the morning, having a shower, eating some food, and going about my day doing anything and everything that i wanted safe in the knowledge that the websites i own or have created are sitting there earning me a living 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Well its not quite making us a living on its own yet, but dave and I have been playing with Adsense for a while, and to be honest its not the best payer as people are getting wise to “Text Ad’s” as they are still blatentley adverts – and “Content specific” or not, people just dont click on them.

As im a active torrent hunter, i visit many torrent websites, and one of them used a new ad service called, Auction Ads. The adverts displayed are from eBay, and contain auctions that depend on whatever keywords you choose. So they do not pick content up from your site (Adsense picks up the wrong words sometimes, and doenst display relevant ad’s at all) it works from keywords that you choose, and therefore can control them a lot easier.

When we first started using it, it seemed to be pretty good. We seemed to earn like, £30 in a month or two – yet now it seems to of dropped off massively. I have contacted them on the 19th because the stats dont seem to be being recorded on their site. It prompted a blog entry from them, but it seems the stats still are not being recorded, and therefore no revenue at all is baing made (or at least being recorded)

They assure me the data IS still there, and i wont of lost anything, but im not holding my breath. I might look for another ad providor, which would be a shame as i really like the way Auction Ads works, and it sometimes finds really cool kicks and displays them on my sites so i dont even have to visit eBay myself haha!

Sort it out auction ads, or your gonna start losing customers!

  • What am i missing

I have been working from gemma’s mum’s house for a week, and they have the internet here, and im just so amazed that i have survived so long at my house without it! It has allowed me to do alsorts of stuff that i shouldnt be spending my daytime doing, like updating my blog, and sticking adverts everywhere.

It has also give me a taster of what it would be like doing my day to day job at home, and it rules! I seem to get more done when im sat in a very relaxed environment – and it also helps to have Jeramy Kyle on in the background, so that i can see that my life isn’t all that bad afterall! 😉

Its also been a fantastic insight into what it would be like if me and gem lived together by ourselves, and its been brilliant. We havent fallen out, we have managed to look after the house, Ruby (the family dog) and Keira (the new family puppy) – and ourselves  just fine, although it has been stressful at times with the dogs! Puppies, eh!

Anyway, Ive had my laptop on my lap all day, and i think ive fried all my babies, so im going now. Ill probably update in a day or two, as i seem to be gettin the blog bug back a bit 🙂

    Peace!

  • TV Adverts Louder than the Programmes

I know that this is one of those situations that affects and annoys everyone, and if im perfectly honest – i thought a law had already been passed to ensure this doesn’t happen, but apparently not.

The Committee of Advertising Practice appear to be trying to get that law we all so desperately want, passed. [click]

1.2       This consultation document sets out BCAP’s proposed revision of rule 6.9.  Both the existing rule and BCAP’s proposed rule aim to minimise the annoyance that can be caused to audiences by television advertisements either exceeding an upper sound limit or being generally perceived as too loud.  BCAP’s proposed rule is intended to provide clearer technical guidance to broadcasters to help them achieve the rule’s twin objectives and, thereby, offer better protection to audiences from unduly loud advertisements.

Unfortunatley like all things like this, they’ll find a way round it. They should just write “it is illegal to play adverts louder thant TV programs” instead of all this mumbo jumbo they write instead.

Ill keep me eyes on that site, and see what the outcome is.

  • Madeleine Mccann – Blood DNA tests negative

    Another blow for the search for Madeleine McCann;

Blood found in Algarve ‘not that of Madeleine McCann’

    Thursday, August 16, 2007

Tests have reportedly concluded that blood traces found in the McCann family’s holiday apartment were not those of their missing daughter Madeleine.

Reports this morning say the blood came from a man, probably a guest who hurt himself while staying in the apartment after the four-year-old disappeared.

Meanwhile, Portugal’s police chief is quoted today as saying that he believes Madeleine died on the night she vanished in the Algarve more than three months ago.

Portuguese media reports say the scene of human remains was detected in the McCann’s apartment by by British sniffer dogs.

The McCanns say they still believe their daughter is alive.

Im suspecting they meant “scent” and not “scene” there, and if thats the case then that might be the last chance they have of securing any evidence. Either that or they’ll find some dead body of a randomer under the floor boards.

If that lead turns out to be a pile of shit, i wonder what their next move will be?
