  • I said she had to ask this time… And she did!

    Whilst we have been adventuring around Amsterdam, Gemma Beans has popped the question (on my actual birthday) so we are now officially engaged again!

    I’m a happy chappy as things are back on track now and we can continue with the plans we had before – although they are slightly altered Now! We have both grown up so much in the last 6 months and now talk about everything again just like we used to. I think we will always be slightly different people but that doesn’t mean we can’t be happy – and that’s the only thing that matters!

    We’re off now to enjoy new years here in Dam – here’s to an amazing 2013!

  • An actual android tablet that is awesome – nexus 10 review

    Ok, it seems i was a little too hasty when it came to my last post about my new android tabletĀ as shortly after I posted it, it stopped charging and became totally useless. I had tried to source a cheap android tablet and I had failed.

    So I thought sod it, and bought a Nexus 10 on launch day – I haven’t looked back.

    The first issue I had with the previous tablet, was that the battery (when it actually worked) lasted about 3 hours at most and to be honest that’s just not long enough! When using a tablet you want to be able to enjoy a days worth of whatever it is you are doing at least – which I’m pleased to announce is the first ‘plus one’ for the nexus as the battery life is amazing!

    So far I haven’t run out of battery in a single day no matter how much I use it, even during lazy Sundays where we watch Storage Wars or something equally as cool alllllllll day!

    The other and quite possibly the most important difference between the two tablets is quite simply the usability. The cheap tablet lagged a lot, was slow to respond and just didn’t do what you wanted it to do. The nexus 10 opens stuff immediately when you tap it, the keyboard is large enough to get a full on speed type going off (when twinned with SwiftKey of course!) so you can fully use it as a replacement for a laptop or net book or whatever, unless of course you want to do full on video editing or make a vector logo or something – although I’m sure it won’t be long before you can do everything via a tablet.

    The build quality of both tablets was good as I think that’s the one element the Chinese spent a fair bit of time on, however the nexus is still better overall. When you are holding it, it feels comfortable and you are confident its not going to fall out your hands.

    To summarise, and you can just tell the nexus device is one that had a fair bit of quality control to ensure its stable, and reliable a d actually usable – after owning it for a few weeks I have completely removed the need for paper in my work life, and spend hours using the tablet for checking ebay, Web browsing and everything else you do on your laptop.

    The only bad points I can raise is that all torrent apps force close the device but then I think that is the same on most tablets and Google Chrome crashes it every now a days then too…

    That’s the one app that shouldn’t really! It is a Google tablet after all!

  • Android Tablet of Awesomeness

    For the last god knows how many months i have toyed with the idea of buying myself an android tablet. For those that don’t know, they are basically similar to an iPad, but with varying specs – and they are a lot cheaper! You don’t have to buy in to the iTunes hype – you are free to roam which is how it should be if you ask me šŸ˜‰

    Anyway – i finally caved in and bought one the other day, it should be with me in a day or so – and i am stupidly excited! I haven’t been this excited for a long time! The one i have chosen is a 9″ tablet, as i have friends with 7″ and 10″ and they don’t feel right – so went about in the middle as i felt that would be about perfect.

    Spec wise its above average compared to a lot of andrid tablets – it comes with a 1.5ghz processor which is nearly 50% more than 90% of its counterparts – and 8gb internal memory, and 1gb ram – full multi touch capacitive screen etc etc – its the bees knees šŸ™‚

    My only 3 fears are;

    1. The keyboard will be too small to type on
    2. The battery will be shit
    3. The WiFi range will be shit

    If all of the above 3 points are not the case when it arrives, and everything else about it is cool – ill be one happy monkey šŸ˜€

  • Life changes

    Not only is that the title of one of my favorite Wu-Tang tracks, Ā its also a very true statement. You never know whats round the corner, and it doesn’t matter how good you thinkĀ you’veĀ got it – you could be back to square one before you can say “smoke me a kipper, ill be back for breakfast…”

    For the last few years of my lifeĀ i’veĀ been in a relationship and going down the whole settling down, having kids kinda route – very strange for me at first as its not something i ever really wanted, but i warmed to it and it soon became what i wanted to do with my life (that and work loads to earn loads of money of course)

    Then due to some still pretty much unknown (to me) reasons the relationship ended – which left me having to make changes to my life that i never thought i’d ever have to make again. šŸ™

    I’m now living with a couple of my mates, nearer work – just outside Mansfield. The house is lovely, its got an awesome back garden and a garage for the caddy – if the circumstances for me moving hereĀ weren’tĀ so shit, i’d have said that i’d landed on my feet with this house! šŸ™‚

    I have to make the best out of any situation im in, so now that the focus of myĀ attentionĀ has shifted i find myself in a position where i have more time, and much less reponsibility – so im filling this time with new ventures, old venturesĀ resurrectedĀ and generally doing all the things i set my heart on all those years ago when i was starting out in myĀ entrepreneurialĀ journey through life.

    I still get to see my dog at the weekends, so my weekends will consist of long walks getting lost in random forests, trips to the seaside and generally spoiling her rotten! No matter what i do through my life, she will always be the most important thing to me and the time i spend with her will always be treasured.
