  • Search engine optimisation

Me and dave have been offering SEO as a service to our customers for well over a year now, and its only really been recently that i have started getting my head round it.

Its so confusing when you start looking into it, there are so many tools, websites and people that claim to be able to help you do this, and get to the top – the fact of the matter is, you will struggle to get to the top unless your site sells those particular keywords to google.

So i would struggle to get to the top of google with this site, for say, debt management – because aside from my ramblings about banks screwing me over there aint anything on this site about debt – so no matter how many links i point here with the keyword debt management is irrelevant.

When we first started the SEO we could of probably been described as black hat, as all we did was buy links from link brokers – AND THAT WAS IT! We soon learnt by our mistakes and slowly but surely we are starting to paint over the black with a nice shade of GREEN.

I say green as apposed to white, because we are trying to get people to the top of google with minimal inbound links, and just purely based on the relevance of the site and its content. And of course by building the site with all the relevant jigsaw pieces required by the search engines.

I’d welcome any pointers in regards software to manage my SEO efforts, and also ways to get decent links that are not frowned upon – as i find it very hard to get in touch with people who have the most relevant websites.

    Do you do SEO?

    What do you charge?

    Do you make any guarantees?

  • Writing the word ‘you’ on a blackberry curve

I know that’s a pretty random title for a blog post, but i have to know if I’m the only fat-fingered person with this problem!

I have had a blackberry curve for about two weeks and i totally love it. It does everything i need and more, and up until now its only crashed once and dropped once – and no other issues, except for this…

I cant write the word you in a text or email without catching the trackball thing with my thumb and messing the word up so the u somehow ends up after the cursor, not behind it on the end of yo.

Its most annoying, and i would love to know if its just me and my fat fingers that are having this problem.

    Peace peace!

  • The difference between an Epidemic and a Pandemic

I turn on the news, or turn on our DAB digital radio – and all i hear about is pig flu! Im not really bothered about it to be honest, its a flu bug that affects people who have had sex with pigs – and since im no swine-ger (haha see what i did there?) im not at all bothered!

Anyway, i kept hearing about this “pandemic” and i wondered what the difference was between an Epidemic and a Pandemic? Someone told me that an epidemic was localised and a pandemic was global. But then im sure i had heard people referring to a global epidemic?

    So what’s the difference?

Well the topic came up over dinner at my mums, and none of us knew the difference.

    I received an email off Mum with the follwing in so i thought i would share with you;

    • Epidemic – Disease prevalent among a community at special time.
    • Pandemic – Disease prevalent over the whole of a community or over ther world.

    What the fudge?

So basically an Epidemic is when a disease spreads through a community, and a Pandemic is when a whole community is diseased.

    I think.
