  • CS-Cart And the Duplicate URL Problem

    It seems that no one at CS-Cart can be fucked to get back to me, even though we have paid (cash money) for their software MANY times.

    Ive recently started doing some more in-depth work for a client, and this involves locking the site down like fort knox so that there can be no discrepancies with the site, by google.

    I noticed an error  (that i have since noticed on random cs-cart sites that i have visited) and it is as follows;

    http://www.domain.name/product-name.html

    Gives the same page as;

    http://www.domain.name/category-name/product-name.html

    Now, correct me if I’m wrong but wont this be seen as a bad thing by those up high? I’d consider myself an intermediate SEO person, and I’m sure that everything i have read has at some point stated that duplicate content is bad.

    I posted in the cs-cart forum, and also in their bug tracker.

    A week later, and the bug tracker thing remains unclaimed/ignored – and this is the best answer the members of the forum can come up with;

    “Login to Google Webmaster Tools and remove the offending URLs?”

    Yeah – cos that’s gonna stop it from happening, isn’t it!

    I get better support with software i have got for free, so receiving this level of support for some software we have PAID for just stinks.

    Im just gonna use Jshop from now on, unless cs-cart get back to me.

  • Calvin Harris Rants on Twitter

    I follow a few celebs on twitter – mainly because i like their music or whatever it is they do. Calvin Harris is one of those people, and tonight he’s really let rip at itv for making him do stupid things for TV. It involved trying (and failing) to open a jar of jam – and heres what he had to say about it

    “ITS NOT THE EMBARRASSMENT OF NOT OPENING THE JAM, I HAVE COME TO TERMS WITH MY LACK OF UPPER BODY STRENGTH”

    “ITS THE OVERWHELMING SADNESS I FEEL THAT SOMEBODY WHO MAKES TV THINKS THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE AND ENTERTAINING FEATURE”

    “ITS NOT. ITS SHITE. AND I WOULD LIKE TO PUBLICLY CALL FOR THE PEOPLE RESONSIBLE FOE THE ‘CAN YOU OPEN MY JAM? FEATURE TO PUBLICLY APOLOGISE”

    “NOT TO ME, BUT TO ANY POTENTIAL VIEWER, FOR POTENTIALLY EXPOSING THEM TO THE WORST SHIT IMAGINEABLE ON TELEVISION. HEADS SHOULD ROLL”

    Random – i know. But this seems to of caused a stir with people who follow him;

    “Yeah a lot of people seem to have missed the point. I hate fucking twitter. I met Q-Tip. THERE IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR?!”

    “RT @clarabelle2009 @calvinharris piss off then close ur account u moany diva!if u cant be bothered with why shud we both with u + ur ‘music’”

    “See that’s the sort of thing I’m talking about. I DON’T EXPECT YOU TO LIKE MY MUSIC! ITS A MATTER OF TASTE! Don’t like it? PLEASE GO AWAY!”

    Where you and i might rant about something on tv, or rant about something that has pissed us off – people like mr harris are in the public spotlight and anything they say can and will be used against them.

    High profile people can easily slip up – just look at the Mi6 agent that put information and photos of him and his family on facebook. Not the brightest move, eh!

    EDIT More upset fans! @calvinharris why u dont u go away ur a twat on twitter! Loser. – Oh dear :/

    EDIT Just checked his account again, and he’s lost 10 followers in 2 minutes!

    LAST EDIT He’s actually released a video called Jam TV – maybe its a way of him trying to make light of the situation?

  • Twittersquatting is the new Cybersquatting

    Im getting sick to the fucking back teef of trying to register twitter accounts for my personal and business use – and some fucking drongo has already snapped them up.

    For example, @olly is registered and not used, @adidas is registered and not used, @ol is registered and not used.

    Need i go on?

    I have tried contacting twitter support and asking to kick them off so i can have them – no joy! I have even tried tracking the people down that own them but still, no joy.

    There needs to be something built in to twitter that, if a profile is registered then never used  then it should be removed.

    Losers.

    A friend of mine had been ordered to move some of his stuff off my server – there is nothig wrong with my server by the way his boss is just an arsehole and was annoyed we paid for some laptops within the 30 days – no i didnt fuck that up, we paid them within the 30 days, but said it might be sooner – because it wasn’t sooner than the 20 days he had a hissy fit threw his toys out his pram and told my mate to move all their stuff off our server!

    anyway, he had got most of the sites moved across – but one was causing some serious problems. It kept displaying the following error.

    Sorry, the copy failed. Unable to find the cpanel user file. Is the archive missing (cwd: /home loaded username/cp/username)? Extract Failed Invalid Account

    I did some googling and many people have had the same problem, but my friend actually fixed the error himself. He noticed there was a 301 wildcard redirect set up on the account he was trying to move – he removed it and bingo it let him copy the account across!
