  • Rebecca Adlington won 3 gold medals.. Not Mansfield!

As i have mentioned in a previous blog entry, i think rebecca has done amazingly well and she should be proud of her achievements for the rest of her life. Im sure she has a promising career in sport and on TV etc and i wish her all the luck in the world with it.

What really gets to me (and probably her) is that Mansfield seems to want to ride off the back of her success and rise from the ashes into the spotlight! Im sorry mansfield, but surely thats something Mansfield should achieve by itsself? If Mansfield brought up and trained some great swimmers who all went on to win at something like the olympics, then great – well done mansfield! But that aint the case is it. As far as im aware Becky Adlington didnt even train in Mansfield as the facilities were not good enough – iirc she said she now trains in Nottingham.

I live in Mansfield, i was born here, and have been raised here. We once had things to be proud of, the brewery.. err.. the brewery.. and now all we have to be proud of is a young girl who totally off her own back (with the help of friends and family of course) has trained and gone on to become the most successful female swimmer in great britain. We can only be proud that she was born here though. Not that Mansfield made her the olympian star she has become!

Anyway, rant over – let becky have all the spotlight as she deserves it. 🙂

  • Well, i guess im really growed up now!

Daddy was working night times one time, and when he came in early in the morning so we could go for a walk, he started making a fuss about some stuff on the floor and acting like i was poorly? The next day there was more of the things on the floor, and then my “bits” swelled up!

I was a bit scared to be honest but i could still go for walks and chase sticks so i forgot about it after a while. It did start irritating me so mum took me to mr riley the vet man and he said it was swelled a bit but it would be fine. He also did something with my bottom and it was so releaving! It was like scratching the itch on my bum i could never reach!

So yeah, im pretty much an adult now. Im an independent girl in this big world.. Except for food times, sleep times, walkies and some other stuff.. Apart from that im totaly independant! 🙂

  • My first modified car show!

Dad’s always banging on about these shows, and all i really knew about them was that when they went, i got to go play with my best mates the ginger nuts!

But this weekend was different! Mum went to some black pool to swim i presume, and me, dad and uncle dave went to the hull motor show in, err, hull i think.

It was really cool, i met a new friend called Blitz who is cool but needs to grow some big dog teeth because they really hurt my ears when he bited them! I know how jazz must of felt now when i was a baby!

We looked at loads of cool cars, and lots of people came over and stroked me – all in all a good weekend! I was well and truely nackered by the end of it let me tell you!

  • Congratulations Rebecca Adlington

A big well done to Rebecca Adlington for winning two gold medals and breaking a world record making her the most successful female swimmer to come out of England in the last 100 years. Its really amazing to see a young girl from Mansfield go so far – and do so well!

    Well done Becky!

Its a very reassuring thing for Mansfield, as this area doesn’t exactly have many shiny people in the spotlight who we can be proud of. The last “Celebrity” from Mansfield ended up getting fired from his TV job for snorting coke! So having a young Mansfield girl go to the Beijing Olympics and earn two gold medals is just fantastic!

    Big up yourself luv! 🙂
